RemindMe is an offline data management and reminder system for immunization using USSD/Voice Technology. RemindMe aims to increase demand for vaccination services and improve the healthcare infrastructure. Remind me supports caregivers, government, development agencies and health workers.
OUR Approach
Remind Me leverages solely on offline technology.
Remind Me works using Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD)Technology.
USSD does not require internet or a smartphone
Remind Me, therefore, places no burden on caregivers or health workers
Remind Me allows caregivers and health workers to do the following effectively:
Register childbirth and receive a unique identifier for the child.
Check immunization history to prevent repeated immunization
Health workers can confirm actual immunization using child unique identifier.
Check for the nearest health care centre that has a particular vaccine a child is due for based on data collected from the inventory system (see 6).
Caregivers or relative receive automated VOICE calls for immunization reminder in their selected language (English, Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba and Pidgin English)
Caregivers can update child info at any time using the USSD number on any network.
Hospitals can manage inventory using the USSD service and development partners/relevant authorities can view inventory log real time.
Hospitals can maintain and update contact details using the USSD service.
Caregivers are able to book an appointment with health care centres closest to them.
Relevant Authorities can send out messages and calls to caregivers on where campaign services are provided based on data collected during registration.
HYPOTHESIS
If caregivers receive a voice call reminding them of their wards immunization and its importance, vaccination demand will improve.
If caregivers can view immunization history with USSD, repeated vaccination will reduce.
If caregivers can find The nearest primary health care centre closest to them with USSD, vaccination demand will increase and the cost of vaccination will reduce.
If caregivers can set up an appointment with USSD, wait time will reduce.
Technologies to be developed:
USSD technology for the immunization system
Automated voice call reminder
USSD technology for inventory management system
Geo-tagging technology will be used for locating nearest vaccination centres with the needed vaccines.
Phase 1 Data:
Accurate birth registration
Location of children
Phone number of caregivers
Immunization completion rate
Hospital data/contact person information
Vaccine inventory data
